Barnyard Bulletin | June 2026

☀️ Helloooo Summerrrr!!! ☀️

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❤️

☀️ June at The Little Red Barn ☀️
As we head into this next season, we are looking forward to all of the upcoming transitions and milestones this summer will bring. We can’t wait to watch your little ones continue to grow, thrive, and prepare for all the exciting things ahead! 💛🌿

>> 📲 Checking kiddos in/out

Just a quick reminder to please make sure to check your child in and out each day in the Playground app. This is an important safety measure that helps us ensure all children are accounted for at all times, while also allowing us to smoothly continue your child’s schedule in the morning. 😊

>> 👒 Weather Attire

It’s almost Summer! ☀️ Please make sure your child’s extra clothes bin is updated with weather-appropriate items, and that everything is clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name.

Helpful items to include:
• A sun hat
• Sunscreen (if your child uses a different brand than LRB’s)
• Closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor play
• Lightweight, warm-weather clothing

🏷️ Friendly Labeling Reminder

Please make sure all of your child’s belongings are clearly labeled with their full first and last name! This includes, but is not limited to items such as:
• Bottles
• Food containers
• Water bottles/sippy cups
• Sleep sacks
• Extra clothes
• Jackets and personal belongings

Proper labeling helps us keep classrooms organized, ensures belongings are returned to the correct child. We highly recommend using sticker labels whenever possible, as Sharpie and Expo marker labels can fade or rub off throughout the day. 😊

Thank you to all of the wonderful mamas who joined us for our Mother’s Day Extravaganza! The afternoon was filled with sunshine, delicious lemonade, sweet smiles, and so much fun as Ms. Jeanie shared helpful tips and tricks focused on movement, flexibility, and agility! 🧘‍♀️🌸

It was such a special day celebrating all of you, and your presence made it even more meaningful. Thank you for your continued support, participation, and for being such an important part of our LRB family. 💛

First and foremost, we want to thank all of you for your continued understanding, patience, and flexibility as we’ve navigated several transitions over the past few weeks. With that being said, we will be pushing Parent-Teacher Conferences to the middle of June to allow our teachers a little extra time to prepare and plan thoughtfully, as these recent transitions have impacted them as well.

We look forward to connecting with each of you soon to discuss all of the wonderful growth your little ones have made! 😊

✨ Meet LeAndra! ✨

We are so excited to introduce LeAndra to our LRB families! 💛

Ms. LeAndra holds a B.A. in Secondary Education with a minor in Language & Linguistics, as well as a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. She has been working in Early Childhood Education for 15 years and has a true passion for watching infants learn, grow, and explore the world around them.

Over the next few months, she will be training both inside and outside of the classrooms as she prepares to support our center on an administrative and classroom level. She will be part time throughout the Summer and then will move into a fulltime position come August!

We said goodbye to Ms. Yay and Ms. Destanie. We wish them the best on this next chapter!

>> ✨Monthly Expectations Refresher:

🚻 Bathroom Cleaning Expectations
All staff members are expected to participate in the bathroom cleaning schedule that is posted in the staff room.

  • One staff member is assigned to clean both bathrooms every other week.
  • After completing your cleaning, please initial and check off the cleaning checklist located in the staff room.
  • Stay consistent—this is a shared responsibility that keeps our center running smoothly.

🧻Wipe Usage
Please limit wipes to diaper changes only. We are going through a high volume due to wipes being used for cleaning surfaces and children’s faces.

  • Use appropriate cleaning materials for surfaces (Wash, rinse, sanitize)
  • Use alternative methods (paper towels, tissues etc.) for faces when possible

🧤 Glove Usage
Gloves should ALWAYS be worn when:
• Changing diapers
• Handling or serving food
• Cleaning bodily fluids
• Assisting with messy clean-ups

Please remember to change gloves between tasks and wash hands immediately after glove removal. Thank you for continuing to prioritize the health and safety of our classrooms! 💛

>> 🛒 Storage Room Expectations

DO NOT place any items on the storage room supply shelves unless they have been approved by administration first. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Toys
• Books
• Restricted play equipment
• Classroom miscellaneous items

The storage room is intended to remain organized and accessible for all classrooms, and unapproved items can quickly create clutter and confusion. If you are unsure whether something belongs in the storage room, please check with admin first!

>> 🪀 Rotating Toys vs. Removing Toys

Rotating toys and classroom materials is a great way to keep children and teachers engaged with fresh learning opportunities throughout the day. As teachers, it is encouraged to intentionally rotate toys and supplies to support classroom interest and developmentally appropriate play. 🌟

However, classroom toys and materials should not be taken away or withheld from children as a form of punishment or convenience. Our goal is to create engaging environments where children feel supported, curious, and encouraged to explore.

If a toy or material is becoming unsafe, overstimulating, or is being used inappropriately, teachers should redirect children appropriately and provide alternative options rather than simply removing access altogether. 💛

>> 📵 Phone Usage
We have observed an increase in personal cell phone usage within the classrooms recently. Our focus should always remain on active supervision, engagement, and interaction with the kiddos throughout the day. Personal phones should only be used for Playground documentation or emergencies ONLY.

>> 📲 Name-to-Face & Sunscreen REMINDER

Sunscreen:
Every application must be logged in Playground | We should be putting sunscreen on kiddos every time they go outside.

Name-to-Face:
ANY time you transition infants:

  • Leaving the classroom to go to play area
  • Returning from outside

You must log Name-to-Face in Playground!
This is not optional and ensures safety and accurate ratios.

>> 🍎 Daily Classroom Expectations

  • 📱Playground Photos and Captions: Aim for 2-3 photos per child daily! One of these pictures needs to be curriculum! Add a short learning caption (doesn’t need to be long, just meaningful!)
  • 📚 Don’t fall behind on Portfolios: Remember to start completing anecdotal observations and developmental checklists for Conferences!
  • 🎨ART: Make sure you are doing an art project once a day! You should be saving art for portfolios and hanging some in your classrooms – this looks great for incoming parents! Product art is ok, process art is HIGHLY encouraged!!!

>> Outdoor Play🌻 : Please prioritize taking kiddos outside!

  • Make sure infants are dressed appropriately for weather!
  • Piglets | REQUIRED that you go outside AT LEAST once a day, weather permitting
  • Cuddly Calves | REQUIRED that you go outside 2-3 times a week | daily if possible – weather permitting

We want to thank all of you for your patience, flexibility, and adaptability as we’ve navigated several transitions over the past couple weeks. We know change can be hard, and we truly appreciate the way everyone has continued showing up and supporting one another through it all.

With that being said, we will be pushing Parent-Teacher Conferences to the middle of June to allow you all some additional time to prepare and plan, as these recent transitions have impacted our classrooms and team.💛

Just a reminder for conferences:

  • Portfolios need to be updated and complete
  • Ensure observations and developmental notes are current and accurate
  • Make sure you are ready to speak confidently about each child’s growth, milestones, and goals

Sign-up sheets will be available starting at the beginning of June 🫶🏼

☀️ May at The Little Red Barn ☀️
MAY is a time to refine our routines and strengthen our classroom expectations. Consistency, engagement, and attention to detail should be seen in every classroom, every day. Let’s finish the spring season strong. 🌿

>> 🧼 Center Cleanliness & Shared Spaces

Maintaining a clean, organized environment is essential—not only for the health and safety of our classrooms, but also for the experience our families have each day. Please review the following expectations below:

🚫 Trash & Classroom Areas
Please do not leave trash outside of classrooms. This creates an unpleasant environment for families during pick-up, and we want to ensure our space always feels clean and welcoming.

🚻 Bathroom Cleaning Expectations
The bathroom cleaning schedule is posted in the staff room.

  • One staff member is assigned to clean both bathrooms every other week.
  • After completing your cleaning, please initial and check off the cleaning checklist located in the staff room.
  • Stay consistent—this is a shared responsibility that keeps our center running smoothly.

🧻 Wipe Usage
Please limit wipes to diaper changes only. We are going through a high volume due to wipes being used for cleaning surfaces and children’s faces.

  • Use appropriate cleaning materials for surfaces (Wash, rinse, sanitize)
  • Use alternative methods (paper towels, tissues etc.) for faces when possible
  • Let Dom know when supplies are running low

🍽️ Staff Microwave Use
Please cover your food with a paper towel when microwaving.

  • This helps prevent splatter and keeps the microwave clean for everyone (the microwave has been getting very dirty)

Thank you !!✨

>> 🛝 Outdoor Play Expectations

Outdoor time is an extension of our classroom and should be just as intentional, engaging, and well-managed.

📵 Active Supervision
This is not a time to be on phones or sitting back. Outdoor play requires full engagement—interacting with children, supporting play, and ensuring safety at all times.

🛝 Equipment Safety

  • The slide and teeter-totter must remain on the rubber tiles at all times for safety
  • Do not move this equipment

🎨 Chalk Expectations
Chalk is for the ground only

  • Please redirect kiddos if they are drawing on equipment (slide, cars, caterpillar, etc.)

🧠 Safe Play Redirection

  • Redirect children if they are biting or pulling on pool noodles
  • Continue guiding children toward safe and appropriate play choices

🧹 End-of-Day Playground Reset (Last Classroom Outside)
The last classroom on the playground is responsible for resetting the space:

  • Clean up all toys and materials
  • Cars and walkers must be parked against the wall
  • Spray down all equipment with sanitizer before heading inside

REMINDER: Before posting photos on Playground, please double-check that faces are clean.

>> 📲 REMINDER!!!!!

>>🏷️ Labeling, Labeling, Labeling

As teachers, it is your responsibility to ensure that everything in the classroom is properly labeled at all times. This includes bottles, food containers, personal items, crib name tags, classroom bins, and Water bottles. Please take a moment throughout the day to double-check all items are clearly labeled and up to licensing standards.

>> 🖌️Storage Room Materials

Please make sure that any materials taken from the storage room are returned at the end of each day. I’ve noticed items being left in classrooms, which causes things to get lost. All classrooms need to have access to what they need!

REMINDER: Before posting photos on Playground, please double-check that faces are clean.

🍀 Helloooo Marchhhh! 🍀

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❤️

🌷 March at The Little Red Barn 🌷

As we step into a new month, we’re so excited for all that March has in store! With spring just around the corner, we will continue to see intentional daily routines, hands-on learning experiences, and fostering meaningful teacher-parent-child interactions.

>>🧼 Handwashing Reminders 🤚🏼

  • Teachers: Please make sure to wash your hands immediately upon entering a classroom!
  • Please remind families to wash their child’s hands at drop-off — this is especially important with stomach bugs going around.
  • Both Classrooms: Kiddos must get hands washed after coming in from outside!

>> 🫧 Clean Faces & Clothing Before Pick-Up

Before sending kids home, please make sure you are:

  • Cleaning faces and noses! We want to send kids home looking clean.
  • Change clothing if messy from lunch or snack.

We want families to feel confident that we care about their child’s appearance and well-being.

REMINDER: Before posting photos on Playground, please double-check that faces are clean.

>> 📲 NEW Playground Expectations

This is not optional and ensures safety and accurate ratios.

Nap time is not for personal phone use! I’ve observed way too much phone usage recently.

Here are appropriate nap-time tasks:

  • Sanitize tables, chairs, high chairs, bumbos
  • Wipe cubbies, shelves, gates, mirrors, windows
  • Work on portfolios
  • Inventory + restock diapers, wipes, gloves
  • Prep activities

Please use this time intentionally!

>> 🍽 Dishes & Toys

  • Please put dishes and toys outside classroom doors no later than 3:30 PM.
  • Please dump any remaining food left on dishes, bibs, and utensils into trash before sending to wash.

✔️ Closing MUST

Closing checklists must be approved by admin every night before each classroom mops!

Please make sure to use your cleaning checklists everyday. They should be actively marked as tasks are being completed!

Tasks include:

  • Floors swept and mopped
  • Shelves and centers are left organized
  • Trash removed + new liner placed | Diaper genie included
  • Fridge sanitized (inside & outside)
  • Bottle warmers wiped out (Dried)
  • Materials restocked for next day
  • PT sheets and diapers switched

Closing sets the tone for the next day! Please don’t rush through it.

They will be on-site:

  • The second Wednesday of each month
  • The fourth Thursday of each month

Playground is now fully implemented across all locations! Thank you for being patience and working through this transition — we know learning a new platform takes time and adjustment. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions as they come up in future weeks! Ashley is working closely with Playground representatives to ensure smooth functionality. 🧡

🐰 Easter Egg Hunt

Mark your calendars! Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Friday, April 3rd from 3:30–4:30 PM. 🐰💛

🌷 March at The Little Red Barn 🌷

As we step into a new month, we’re so excited for all that March has in store! With spring just around the corner, we will continue to see intentional daily routines, hands-on learning experiences, and fostering meaningful teacher-parent-child interactions.

>> February was such a sweet month at LRB! From the heartfelt Valentine celebrations to the continued growth in both classrooms! Thank you for celebrating with us and making it such a memorable month! ✨

🌟 Friendly March Reminders

As we move into a new month, here are a few important reminders to help keep our days smoothly:

>> 📲 Playground Is in Full Swing

Playground is officially up and running! 🎉 Thank you all for helping make this transition as smooth as possible. We know switching platforms can be a learning curve for everyone involved, and we truly appreciate your patience and flexibility during this process.

So far, we have really enjoyed this new system and the improved organization, communication features, and overall ease of connection it provides for both families and staff.

As we continue navigating this new platform together, please don’t hesitate to reach out to administration with any questions. We are happy to help and want to ensure everyone feels confident using Playground moving forward. 🧡

>> 🧥 Weather Attire

Spring weather can be unpredictable! Please send your child with:

  • A light jacket or sweatshirt
  • Closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor play
  • Extra clothes labeled with their name

We go outside daily (weather permitting), so layers are very helpful.

>> 🍼 Formula Bands

Formula bands are now in the classrooms! Please make sure you are putting a formula band on your child’s bottle if it contains formula!!

We are so excited to announce that 5280 Gymnastics will begin visiting us twice a month starting this month!

They will be on-site:

  • The second Wednesday of each month
  • The fourth Thursday of each month

Their Sweet Pea program focuses on building gross motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, and confidence — all in a fun, structured environment right here at LRB! 💙

The Christian Academy officially opens on March 16th! Spread the word and help us get fully enrolled! All in house referrals will recieve a 10% discount on 1 month’s tuition!

We are excited to announce that Ashley and her husband Ed are expecting their first at the end of the summer!

🐰 Easter Egg Hunt

Mark your calendars! Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Friday, April 3rd from 3:30–4:30 PM. 🐰💛

Kiddos will search for eggs on the playground and enjoy festive Easter activities with their friends. More details will be shared soon — we can’t wait to celebrate together! 🌸✨

Welcome to the Barn Family, Ms. Kelsie!

We hope many of you had the chance to say hello to Ms. Kelsie this past week! She has been hired as the new Assistant Director at The Big Red Barn Christian Academy and will be training here at LRB before transitioning to the Christian Academy upon its opening.

We are so excited to have her supporting our team during this transition. If you see her around, be sure to give her a warm LRB welcome! 💛

🌟 February at The Little Red Barn 🌟

Love • Growth • New Beginnings

>> This past month has brought exciting growth and a season of transition at The Little Red Barn. We are so appreciative of the grace, patience, and support our LRB families have shown as we navigate these changes. Please know that every decision is made with your children and our community at heart—thank you for walking alongside us during this journey 🤍✨

🌟 Friendly February Reminders

Here a few important reminders to help keep the barn running smoothly:

>> 🧼 Handwashing at Drop-Off:

Please remember to help your child wash their hands during morning drop-off. this small step makes a big difference in keeping everyone healthy during cold and flu season!

>> 🏷️ Label, Label, Label!

All bottles, food containers (includes pouches, teething crackers, etc.), and personal items must be clearly labeled with:

  • Child’s first and last name
  • Date (daily)
  • Breastmilk bottles must have a breastmilk band

>> Formula Bottle Update:

As the Health Department continues to update rules and regulations, effective mid-February, all bottles containing formula must have a formula band placed on them by parents.

>> 🎒 Friday Take-Home Items:

Please remember to take sleep sacks, water bottles, sippy cups home each Friday so they can be washed and refreshed for the week ahead.

We are so excited to officially begin our transition to Playground, our new parent communication platform! By now, you should have received an invitation to set up your Playground account—if you haven’t, please be sure to check your spam or junk folder.

📅 Important Dates to Note:

  • February 15th: Billing cycles will begin processing through Playground
  • February 23rd: Playground will officially be in full use for daily communication, updates, and messaging 🧡 Please let Dom know if you have any questions!

We’re excited to officially share that the Piglets Classroom is now fully licensed to accommodate children ages 1–2 years old! 🥳

Beginning the Second week of February, our revamped toddler curriculum will be in place, thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of this age group. The classroom is now equipped to follow a more intentional toddler schedule, including age-appropriate learning experiences, movement opportunities, and routines that encourage independence, exploration, and social growth.

We are officially in the inspection phase at the new location! We passed our Health Inspection earlier this week and have Licensing and Fire Inspections scheduled for next week! Things are moving fast are we are looking good to open in March. Opening day is still dependent on when the state give us the final ok, but we are looking at opening on either Monday March 2nd or Monday the 16th! With everything moving so fast we are also ready to show all our interested families the new space! If you are interested in transferring to The Christian Academy, we would love for you to join us for an open house next Thursday the 12th from 4-7 pm! Please RSVP if you plan on stopping by here.

Our mission is to spread God’s love to your kiddos and to help them build a foundation of love, grace, and prayer. Your students will explore different bible stories in chronological order by having interactive and messy activities to learn from. At the barn, learning about Jesus is created to be fun, messy, and will ALWAYS result back to learning about God’s character. No matter the story or lesson, your students will focus their attention on which characteristic that God is displaying or teaching us about and how we can implement that characteristic in our own hearts. Focusing on God’s character will help us disciple children to become kind, graceful, and loving humans who aim to be more like Jesus. We want to bring God’s love and grace into every interaction we have with your students and your family.

With the help of Conscious Discipline and our strong focus on social emotional development of our students, we will help guide your students to build confidence in confiding in God through prayer no matter the situation. Not only will we begin our day with prayer, inviting God into our day-to-day experiences, but we will also help students build an understanding of how we can speak to God using interactive, visual ‘prayer helper books’. This will allow students to build confidence and teach them how to be transparent and honest with God while helping them start their prayer journeys. If behaviors occur between peers, we will also give prayer as an option for students to use as a problem solving technique to start allowing prayer to be the thing that brings them together. Prayer and God’s character will be at the heart of everything that we do!

❤️ Helloooo February! 🩷

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❤️

🌟 The Little Red Barn 🌟

As we move into February, I want to thank you all for your continued dedication, flexibility, and love for our kiddos. This season is all about growth, consistency, and connection—and I’m so excited to see what we continue to accomplish together 💕✨

>> 📝 Classroom Cleaning Expectations: Please continue making a conscious effort to maintain clean, organized, and sanitary classrooms each day. This is essential for the health, safety, and well-being of everyone who enters The Little Red Barn. As we remain in cold and flu season, it is especially important that we stay consistent and thorough with all daily cleaning and sanitizing routines.

Please ensure the following expectations are met:

✔️ Daily Sanitizing

  • All tables, high chairs, and learning surfaces must be cleaned and sanitized after use
  • Sweep and mop at the end of EVERY mealtime!
  • Toys that are mouthed must be removed and placed in the “dirty toys” bin

✔️ Toy & Material Rotation

  • Toys should be cleaned and rotated regularly
  • Sheets, boppy covers, soft toys and restricted toy covers must be sent to wash every week!
  • Please don’t put toys in the crib area – We don’t want to restrict play during the day!

✔️ End-of-Day Classroom Reset

  • Floors swept and/or mopped as needed
  • Shelves and centers organized
  • Trash removed
  • Sanitized inside and outside of fridge – bottle warmers are wiped cleaned
  • Materials restocked for the next day! PT sheets and diapers switched!

We need to be completing the weekly cleaning checklists! Moving forward, I will be checking to see that they are getting completed! 🧡✨

  • 📱Brightwheel Photos and Captions: Aim for 2-3 photos per child daily! One of these pictures needs to be curriculum! Add a short learning caption (doesn’t need to be long, just meaningful!)
  • 📚 Don’t fall behind on Portfolios: Remember to start completing anecdotal observations and developmental checklists for Spring Conferences!
  • 🎨 ART: Make sure you are doing one art project at least once a day! You should be saving art for portfolios and hanging some in your classrooms – this looks great for incoming parents! Product art is good, processed art is HIGHLY encouraged!!!

>> Handwashing Policy 🤚🏼🧼: As we head into flu season, please be extra mindful of handwashing routines with the babies- and yourselves! Parents MUST wash their infants hands at morning drop-off!!

>> Formula Bottle Update:

As the Health Department continues to update rules and regulations, effective mid-February, all bottles containing formula must have a formula band placed on them by parents.

>> Weather Guidelines for Outdoor Play 🌨️ : Once it starts snowing, we may not be able to go outside as much, so take advantage of the nice weather while we still have it!

  • Make sure infants are dressed appropriately! (long sleeves, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, hats, etc.)
  • Piglets | REQUIRED that you go outside once a day, weather permitting
  • Cuddly Calves | REQUIRED that you go outside 2-3 times a week, weather permitting

We’re excited to share that 5280 Gymnastics will be coming back to The Little Red Barn soon! It was so fun to see the kiddos participate in fun movement activities! More details will be shared as we get closer—stay tuned!

As you all know, we will be transitioning to a new communication platform, Playground, in the near future. A staff training is scheduled in order to walk everyone through how to use this new system!
