๐ŸŒธ April at The Little Red Barn ๐ŸŒธ

Thank you for your continued effort and care each of you bring into the classrooms every day. As we move into April, our focus is on intentional engagement and classroom consistency!

Letโ€™s continue to show up with purpose and energy for our babies!!

>>๐Ÿท๏ธ Labeling, Labeling, Labeling

As teachers, it is your responsibility to ensure that everything in the classroom is properly labeled at all times. This includes bottles, food containers, personal items, crib name tags, classroom bins, and Water bottles. Please take a moment throughout the day to double-check all items are clearly labeled and up to licensing standards.

>> ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธStorage Room Materials

Please make sure that any materials taken from the storage room are returned at the end of each day. Iโ€™ve noticed items being left in classrooms, which causes things to get lost. All classrooms need to have access to what they need!

REMINDER: Before posting photos on Playground, please double-check that faces are clean.

  • Cleaning underneath shelving, THE FRIDGE, and hard to reach spaces
  • Using hot, soapy water bucket and a sponge to clean high chairs, tables, chairs

At the barn, learning about Jesus is created to be fun, messy, and will ALWAYS result back to learning about Godโ€™s character. No matter the story or lesson, your students will focus their attention on which characteristic that God is displaying or teaching us about and how we can implement that characteristic in our own hearts. Focusing on Godโ€™s character will help us disciple children to become kind, graceful, and loving humans who aim to be more like Jesus. We want to bring Godโ€™s love and grace into every interaction we have with your students and your family.

With the help of Conscious Discipline and our strong focus on social emotional development of our students, we will help guide your students to build confidence in confiding in God through prayer no matter the situation. Not only will we begin our day with prayer, inviting God into our day-to-day experiences, but we will also help students build an understanding of how we can speak to God using interactive, visual โ€˜prayer helper booksโ€™. This will allow students to build confidence and teach them how to be transparent and honest with God while helping them start their prayer journeys. If behaviors occur between peers, we will also give prayer as an option for students to use as a problem solving technique to start allowing prayer to be the thing that brings them together. Prayer and God’s character will be at the heart of everything that we do!

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible โค๏ธ

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season! I’m so excited to see what this next year has to offerโœจ

>> ๐Ÿ“ Classroom Expectations: Just a friendly reminder about The Barn Difference – even as a nursery, we still want to make sure that Frog street is a priority. Please utilize the chart I made for you to keep track of daily activities and curriculum!

  • ๐Ÿ“ฑBrightwheel Photos and Captions: Aim for 2-3 photos per child daily! One of these pictures needs to be curriculum! Add a short learning caption (doesn’t need to be long, just meaningful!)
  • ๐Ÿ“š Don’t fall behind on Portfolios: Remember to start completing anecdotal observations and developmental checklists for Spring Conferences!
  • ๐ŸŽจ ART: Make sure you are doing one art project at least once a day! You should be saving art for portfolios and hanging some in your classrooms – this looks great for incoming parents! Product art is good, processed art is HIGHLY encouraged!!!

>> Handwashing Policy ๐Ÿคš๐Ÿผ๐Ÿงผ: As we head into flu season, please be extra mindful of handwashing routines with the babies- and yourselves! Parents MUST wash their infants hands at morning drop-off!!

>> Weather Guidelines for Outdoor Play ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ : Once it starts snowing, we may not be able to go outside as much, so take advantage of the nice weather while we still have it!

  • Make sure infants are dressed appropriately! (long sleeves, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, hats, etc.)
  • Piglets | REQUIRED that you go outside once a day, weather permitting
  • Cuddly Calves | REQUIRED that you go outside 2-3 times a week, weather permitting

Our Christmas Party was a wonderful reminder of how special our Barn family truly is! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

I am so incredibly thankful for each and every one of you! You all truly made the holiday season one that I will remember for a long timeโค๏ธ The Little Red Barn Christmas was so much fun!

Snow could start any day now! โ„๏ธ Just a reminder that during the snowy months, staff need to park in the spots along Alameda in order for the plows to keep the parking lot clear for parents!

With the New Year comes lots of new and exciting changes! The Barn is making some changes not only to our administrative roles, communication platforms, and classrooms, but to large scale size as well!

  • Revamping Piglets! We took some time over the break to begin our Piglet revamp. We have found over the last few months that there have been a few missing pieces to the flow of our facilities since we broke off into 2. That being said we are going to relicense our Piglet Classroom to be a 1-2 year old classroom! This will better help support our kiddos through transitions and gives us more wiggle room to make sure we are properly transitioning our kids to The Big Red Barn.
    • What is to come?
      • We have added new toys and a more extensive dramatic play area and are working on revamped curriculum to better support this new age group. The new curriculum will be implemented starting in February!
  • Expanding The Big Red Barn! We were very busy over the break and closed on a new facility not far from The Big Red Barn. We are branching out and creating a sister school that will be focused more on our passion for spreading God’s love. The Big Red Barn Christian Academy will hopefully be opening in March or April of 2026! Ms. Alicia will be partnering with Ashley on this adventure as she takes on her dream of creating a Faith Based Bible Curriculum for Early Childhood settings! We will be on the hunt for a new director to replace Alicia at The Big Red Barn over the next few months, but if you see her make sure to give her some love and a big congratulations as she takes this next step into her career.
  • New Parent Communication Portal! Now that we will be a 3 site operation we will be switching from Brightwheel to an app called Playground. Playground has all the same basic functions as Brightwheel, but has a lot more to offer when it comes to operating multiple sites. Be on the lookout for next steps in this transition as we will hopefully be switching over by 2/15/26.
  • New Administrative Role! We are so excited to officially announce that Ms. Maisey will be coming back onboard as our Conscious Discipline Coordinator and Floating Trainer. She has been working hard on becoming an expert on all things Conscious Discipline and will help us through our implementation stages. She will be working with all teachers in all three locations. Over the next 2 weeks she will be subbing in infant classrooms to get a better idea of the infant world. Please help her feel at home and give her all the knowledge of your classrooms so she can work to support you in the best possible way! To learn more about her role, please click here.

๐Ÿ“ŒSchool Closures

  • Closed for Teacher Planning and Prep Day on February 16th – This is a mandatory staff work day for all employees!

Draw a picture of a snowflake for Dom if you read this months newsletter! โ„๏ธ

>> Thank you so much for all of the wonderful gifts! We felt so loved and could not stop talking about how amazing our LRB parents are – you all are truly the best! ๐Ÿงก

>> ๐ŸŒŸJust a few friendly reminders kick off the new year!

  • Please don’t forget to wash your kiddos hands during morning drop-off! We want to continue to keep everyone healthy and safe as we enter the snowy months.
  • Make sure ALL bottles and food containers are labeled with your kiddos first and last name as well as the date.
  • Make sure to take sleep sacks and water bottles/sippy cups home on Fridays

>> Winter Attire ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ๐Ÿงฃ : As the snow sets in, please make sure to bundle up you little ones! Check in with your teachers to make sure your kiddo has the appropriate clothing attire stored away (long sleeves, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, hats, etc.)!

Christmas at The Little Red Barn was so much fun! Thank you for letting us spend this magical day with your precious babes! โค๏ธ

Our Piglets classroom is growing right along with our little toddlers! We’re excited to share that we are re-licensing this classroom to accommodate kiddos ages 1-2 years old! This transition will help us better support our growing learners as they begin to make gradual strides towards the Big Red Barn routine. You may see some changes in the classroom and the curriculum, however we will send a follow-up message to families with more details! ๐Ÿฅฐ

>> Winter Attire Reminder โ„๏ธ : As the snow starts to come in, please make sure your infant has long sleeves, pants, and socks as we may still be enjoying outdoor play!

>> ๐Ÿงผ Cold and Flu Season Reminder: Handwashing is Key๐Ÿ’ง- Just a friendly reminder wash your kiddos hands at morning drop-off to create a healthy classroom routine! Teachers will continue to implement handwashing throughout the day as well!

๐Ÿ–๐Ÿผ Rule of thumb for Handwashing:

  • For babies who can’t hold their heads up: Please use the soapy water spray bottle to gently clean their hands and dry with paper towel upon drop off.
  • All other infants: Please assist kiddos using the handwashing sink to wash hands upon drop off.

>> Please use the How Sick is Too Sick policy as a guide if any questions arise! Thank you for helping us create a healthy and happy environment for all! ๐Ÿ’›

>> Snowy Season Prepโ„๏ธ: It’s about that time! Snow is on it’s way and as preparation, we wanted to share our inclement weather closure policy from our handbook:

8.2 | Inclement Weather Policy

To ensure the safety of our families and staff, The Little Red Barn follows the Jeffco Public School System for any school closure during inclement weather conditions. The Little Red Barn reserves the right to determine closures they deem necessary in the interest of child and staff safety. If the school closes, parents will be notified using the BrightWheel Application.

Below is our schedule for the following weather-related events*:

  • For Jeffco Public School weather closures, The Little Red Barn will remain closed.
  • For Jeffco Public School weather related delayed start, The Little Red Barn will open at 9:00 am.
  • For Jeffco Public School weather related early release / cancelation of after-school programs, The Little Red Barn will close at 3:30 pm.

Gobble, Gobble! Our Thanksgiving Celebrations were full of laughter, fun treats, and sweet moments.
