Helloooo November 🍂🧡

A month to give thanks to our LRB Family!

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❤️

It’s November! 🍂 Welcome to month five of LRB being open and thriving!✨

There’s so much to be grateful for this holiday season. The Barn is beyond blessed to have the incredible team of women that we do – I truly wouldn’t have it any other way.❤️ This year has brought a lot of change – good days and hard days alike – but through it all, each of you continues to handle every challenge with grace. Thank you!

>> ⏰ Quick Reminder: We’ve noticed that staff have been returning from lunch breaks late. Please be mindful about staying as close to your scheduled time as possible. If you anticipate being late, just send a quick message in the admin group chat to keep things running smoothly. Thanks

>> Please make sure we are keeping up with daily and weekly cleaning checklist – Making sure that diapers are stocked, soap dispensers, disinfectant, soapy water are filled.

>> Handwashing Policy 🤚🏼🧼: As we head into flu season, please be extra mindful of handwashing routines with the babies- and yourselves! Make sure hands are washed:

  • At drop-off
  • Before and after meals
  • After outside play
  • After wiping noses
  • Before and after diaper changes
  • After sensory play

>> Parents MUST wash their infants hands at morning drop-off!!

>> Weather Guidelines for Outdoor Play 🍂 : Fresh air is great for the babies, but comfort and safety come first! Please consider these guidelines when planning outdoor play for the infants:

  • If the temperature is between 40s and 50s, please consult admin before going outside!
  • 50s and above, you can take your kiddos outside! (During the snowy months, this may vary)
  • Please make sure infants are dressed appropriately! (long sleeves, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, hats, etc.)

>> Just a few friendly reminders:

  • Please make sure to rinse your dishes before you put them in the dirty dishes bin – makes washing dishes much easier! REMINDER: no food should be discarded in ANY sink. Please discard all food in a trash can prior to rinsing them.
  • Don’t forget to use the soapy water bucket at the end of the day!
  • Please sweep and mop behind trashcans, diaper genies, and step stools!

>> 🔔BUDDY SYSTEM: Now that it is dark outside when we close, no one is allowed to go to the trash cans or leave at the end of the night without a buddy! This is mandatory! NO EXCEPTIONS 🔔

>> Monthly Conscious Discipline Implementation: As a continuation our 4 year implementation plan we ask that you all send photos of your families and friends in Group Me with a brief description. This will not only help us get to know each other better, but we will also be printing these photos to make our work space feel more like home! At the end of the day we love our jobs, but we work for ourselves and others, this will be a daily reminder of who we do this life for💕

Our very first Halloween Sensory Night was an incredible success thanks to all of you! It was so rewarding to see the babies having a blast with the bubble foam and the spaghetti noodles 😂 Events like this remind us how special LRB truly is and it adds another layer of community, which is what The Big Red Barn Difference is all about! ✨ I couldn’t have done it without you 🧡

>> ✨Starting the New School Year with Exciting Extracurriculars!✨ We kicked things off with Storytime with the Librarian and Silly Scientists led by Ms. Rosalie and Ms. Maisey and the infants LOVED every second of it!⭐

🎶Up next: Music with Munchkins will be coming to The Little Red Barn on the second Thursday of every month starting on September 11th! Get ready for singing, dancing, and plenty of bubbles!!

>> Just as friendly reminder📌 : Please label all bottles with your child’s first and last name and add the date using an expo marker.

>> 🍂 Fall Attire Reminder 🍂 : As the weather starts to cool down, please make sure your infant has long sleeves, pants, and socks as we’ll still be enjoying lots of outdoor play!

>> 🏵️Staying Healthy This Season🏵️: Cold and Flu season is around the corner and we want to do all we can to keep our little ones feeling their best! We’re going to continue implementing healthy habits at school, such as washing our hands and thoroughly cleaning classrooms on a daily basis! Here is our How Sick is Too Sick Policy for your reference. This is provided by the CDPHE for all child care centers.

🎶Support Your School Through Music at Altitunes Lakewood!🎶

The Barn has loved our partnership with Altitunes Music to bring joy of music to our kiddos! Altitunes offers fun and interactive classes for families in Lakewood, and we’d love for you to check them out!

A message from Altitunes:

Join us for your first music class with your little one at Altitunes Lakewood and we’ll donate $5 to support music programming at Big Red Barn/Little Red Barn.

It doesn’t stop there: when you sign up for a recurring class, we’ll continue donating $5 every month for as long as you’re enrolled. That means your family enjoys music together and your school benefits month after month!

It’s almost spooky season! Since this is our first year with two centers, we’d love to hear from you! 📝Please fill out this poll on how interested you’d be in joining together at The Big Red Barn for our annual Trunk-or-Treat!

🌻 Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year🌻

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❤️

>> Happy August ladies! It is officially our second month being open and you have all been ROCKSTARS! ⭐ I know the last couple of weeks have been a bit chaotic and we’ve had to do a lot of adjusting, but I appreciate you all being so flexible. I am so thankful for each and everyone of you and could not hold down the fort without you! THANK YOU! 🎉🎉

>> Exciting News, Extracurriculars are coming to LRB!

  • The Librarian is coming to LRB on August 11th to read fun stories to the babies! 📖🥳
  • Ms. Maisey will be coming in to host Silly Scientists with our kiddos on August 20th! 🧪

>> We will begin implementing Teacher Goals every week to make our daily activities more intentional. This will help us gradually create more structure in the classroom and create a solid foundation for LRB in the future! *I will be checking Brightwheel daily to make sure these are getting done* Here’s a short list of goals to start thinking about:

  • Curriculum and engaging captions
  • Weekly Sensory Play Ideas
  • Art projects
  • Posting pictures (individual and group pics)
  • More Outdoor play!

>> There have been way too many call outs this month. It has been rare lately that all of our staff show up and stay their whole shift. We understand that life happens and sickness happens, but if you can, please attempt to come to your shift and we can figure out a way to get you out early.

>> If you are running late or calling in, it is your responsibility to check who the opening Admin is and to call them and then ALSO text in admin group chat!!

>> Mark your Calendars! Supply Lists are due the 15th of every month and Developmental Checklists/Observations are due on the 26th of every month. Please make sure that you are actively working on student Portfolios on your free time. We do not want to get behind on these!

>> Please let Dom know if ANY supplies are running low!

>> Don’t forget about your weekly cleaning checklist – I will be checking them at the end of the day!

>> Make sure we are getting the babies outside! Cuddly Calves: 1-3 times a week | Piglets: Once a day

 >> Make sure that bottles, cribs, cubbies, clear bins, snacks/sippy cups are labeled with kiddos first and last name

>> Please abide by the LRB parking signs! We should not be parking in front of our neighbors. Thank you 🙂

>> The 2025-2026 School Year Employee Handbook has been updated. Please make sure to read over the new handbook and once complete, see Dom to sign off that you acknowledge the changes! To make it easier since I know the handbook is quite long, I have broke out the specific changes that were made below. Please let us know if you have any questions!

  • Section 1.5 | Classroom & Ratios – We are officially relicensed to have 8 children in both classrooms compared to our original 7!
  • Section 3.1 | Required Trainings – All staff are now required to be trained on how to use a fire extinguisher and must have 1 credit hour in child development.
    • Please watch this short video on how to use an extinguisher and tell Dom the acronym used to remember the proper steps of using and extinguisher.
  • Section 5.2.3 | Paid Holidays and School Breaks –
    • Our summer break will now be scheduled annually for the week prior to Jeffco public schools. These dates will be released annually and are now posted on the Employee Calendar.
    • Staff will now be paid 50% of their salary for our 2 week closures (summer and winter break). In full transparency, I can no longer afford to pay out full salaries without significant impacts on the business. Please make sure to plan accordingly for these week breaks! However, as a benefit to longevity with the company, once you hit 3 years with us you will recieve 100% of your salary for these weeks off.
    • We have also added 2 teacher planning days into our school closure list. These will be days where children are not attending but staff are required to be in person for training, deep cleaning, classroom and curriculum prep and planning, etc. For the 2025-2026 school year these dates are October 13th and February 16th.

>> Extracurriculars Update: Music with Altitunes will kick-off starting September 2nd! They will come to LRB on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Friday of every month! I will give updates on the other extracurriculars as soon as we get solidified schedules!

>> We are CLOSED on September 1st in observance of Labor Day!

>> Grandparents Day Celebrations are on Sept. 5th! Please have supply lists for gifts to Dom by August 15th!!

>> Our annual Oktoberfest and Chili Cook Off will be held at The Big Red Barn on October 4th and will begin at 4:00 pm!

>> 2025-2026 School Year: Be sure to look over our updated school calendar and tuition rates for the new school year!

>> We LOVE that our car seat storage area is being utilized by more parents! Just to avoid any confusion, please make sure there is a label with your child’s first and last name somewhere on the car seat that is visible!

>> We want to extend a HUGE thank you to all of you! Everyone has been doing a fabulous job following our parking signs! Just as a friendly reminder: please only use the two spots in front of our main entrance for drop off and pick-up and any of the spots next to our parking signs.

>> Summer Break is August 4th-8th! We look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday, August 11th!

We are excited to kick off the 2025-2026 school year with a variety of Extracurricular Activities!🥳These will help our itty bitties discover their hidden talents by introducing them to cool musical instruments with Altitunes music, engaging in fun science experiments through Silly Scientists, learning new words in Simply Spanish, hearing cool stories with the Librarian, and understanding the importance of love, joy, and patience with Fun with Faith! Check out descriptions for each one below:

Simply Spanish

A program created by our very own Pre-K teacher, Ms. Jenny, that teaches children the basics of Spanish. From the alphabet and colors, to numbers and basic commands, children will enjoy learning a new language through songs and stories! Children will be encouraged to move their bodies and interact with their friends throughout the lessons to better stimulate their minds while grasping the Spanish language.

Music for Munchkins with Altitunes

A partnership program, in which children experiment with different instruments and find a love for music and movement. Children will get hands-on experience with all sorts of instruments, and have plenty of opportunities to move their bodies to the beat of the music!

Storytime with the Librarian

Children will go on magical adventures through literature with our community Librarian! With fun stories that will engage your child’s imagination, they’ll learn to love reading and develop their narrative skills in the process.

Silly Scientists

A program created to ignite excitement over all the sciences. From matter and mass, to outer space, nature, and chemistry reactions we cover it all! Children’s minds will be challenged to make predictions and draw conclusions while participating in interactive and fun experiments!

Fun With Faith

A program created by Big Red Barn’s founder Ashley Bouchard herself, which reminds children that they are loved unconditionally by God. These short sessions will entail songs, games, and activities that share short stories about how He will never leave and will always love. We focus on the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.We will also talk about unconditional love and forgiveness! The goal of Fun with Faith is to help foster loving and caring children through the eyes of God and to show children that they can rely on a loving God!

>> We are CLOSED on Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day! 🤍

>> Grandparent’s Day Celebrations will be held on Friday Sept. 5th, mark your calendars!
