πŸ€ Helloooo Marchhhh! πŸ€

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❀️

🌷 March at The Little Red Barn 🌷

As we step into a new month, we’re so excited for all that March has in store! With spring just around the corner, we will continue to see intentional daily routines, hands-on learning experiences, and fostering meaningful teacher-parent-child interactions.

>>🧼 Handwashing Reminders 🀚🏼

  • Teachers: Please make sure to wash your hands immediately upon entering a classroom!
  • Please remind families to wash their child’s hands at drop-off β€” this is especially important with stomach bugs going around.
  • Both Classrooms: Kiddos must get hands washed after coming in from outside!

>> 🫧 Clean Faces & Clothing Before Pick-Up

Before sending kids home, please make sure you are:

  • Cleaning faces and noses! We want to send kids home looking clean.
  • Change clothing if messy from lunch or snack.

We want families to feel confident that we care about their child’s appearance and well-being.

REMINDER: Before posting photos on Playground, please double-check that faces are clean.

>> πŸ“² NEW Playground Expectations

Sunscreen:
Every application must be logged in Playground | We should be putting sunscreen on kiddos every time they go outside.

Name-to-Face:
ANY time you transition infants:

  • Leaving the classroom to go to play area
  • Returning from outside

You must log Name-to-Face in Playground!
This is not optional and ensures safety and accurate ratios.

>> πŸ’€Nap Time = Productivity Time

Nap time is not for personal phone use! I’ve observed way too much phone usage recently.

Here are appropriate nap-time tasks:

  • Sanitize tables, chairs, high chairs, bumbos
  • Wipe cubbies, shelves, gates, mirrors, windows
  • Work on portfolios
  • Inventory + restock diapers, wipes, gloves
  • Prep activities

Please use this time intentionally!

>> 🍽 Dishes & Toys

  • Please put dishes and toys outside classroom doors no later than 3:30 PM.
  • Please dump any remaining food left on dishes, bibs, and utensils into trash before sending to wash.

βœ”οΈ Closing MUST

Closing checklists must be approved by admin every night before each classroom mops!

Please make sure to use your cleaning checklists everyday. They should be actively marked as tasks are being completed!

Tasks include:

  • Floors swept and mopped
  • Shelves and centers are left organized
  • Trash removed + new liner placed | Diaper genie included
  • Fridge sanitized (inside & outside)
  • Bottle warmers wiped out (Dried)
  • Materials restocked for next day
  • PT sheets and diapers switched

Closing sets the tone for the next day! Please don’t rush through it.

>> 🍎 Daily Classroom Expectations

  • πŸ“±Playground Photos and Captions: Aim for 2-3 photos per child daily! One of these pictures needs to be curriculum! Add a short learning caption (doesn’t need to be long, just meaningful!)
  • πŸ“š Don’t fall behind on Portfolios: Remember to start completing anecdotal observations and developmental checklists for Spring Conferences!
  • 🎨ART: Make sure you are doing an art project once a day! You should be saving art for portfolios and hanging some in your classrooms – this looks great for incoming parents! Product art is ok, process art is HIGHLY encouraged!!!

>> Outdoor Play🌻 : Please prioritize taking kiddos outside!

  • Make sure infants are dressed appropriately for weather!
  • Piglets | REQUIRED that you go outside AT LEAST once a day, weather permitting
  • Cuddly Calves | REQUIRED that you go outside 2-3 times a week | daily if possible – weather permitting

5280 Gymnastics will begin visiting us twice a month starting this month! Depending on weather, we may go outside, so please plan accordingly on those days!

They will be on-site:

  • The second Wednesday of each month
  • The fourth Thursday of each month

Playground is now fully implemented across all locations! Thank you for being patience and working through this transition β€” we know learning a new platform takes time and adjustment. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions as they come up in future weeks! Ashley is working closely with Playground representatives to ensure smooth functionality. 🧑

🌟 February at The Little Red Barn 🌟

Love β€’ Growth β€’ New Beginnings

>> This past month has brought exciting growth and a season of transition at The Little Red Barn. We are so appreciative of the grace, patience, and support our LRB families have shown as we navigate these changes. Please know that every decision is made with your children and our community at heartβ€”thank you for walking alongside us during this journey 🀍✨

🌟 Friendly February Reminders

Here a few important reminders to help keep the barn running smoothly:

>> 🧼 Handwashing at Drop-Off:

Please remember to help your child wash their hands during morning drop-off. this small step makes a big difference in keeping everyone healthy during cold and flu season!

>> 🏷️ Label, Label, Label!

All bottles, food containers (includes pouches, teething crackers, etc.), and personal items must be clearly labeled with:

  • Child’s first and last name
  • Date (daily)
  • Breastmilk bottles must have a breastmilk band

>> Formula Bottle Update:

As the Health Department continues to update rules and regulations, effective mid-February, all bottles containing formula must have a formula band placed on them by parents.

>> πŸŽ’ Friday Take-Home Items:

Please remember to take sleep sacks, water bottles, sippy cups home each Friday so they can be washed and refreshed for the week ahead.

We are so excited to officially begin our transition to Playground, our new parent communication platform! By now, you should have received an invitation to set up your Playground accountβ€”if you haven’t, please be sure to check your spam or junk folder.

πŸ“… Important Dates to Note:

  • February 15th: Billing cycles will begin processing through Playground
  • February 23rd: Playground will officially be in full use for daily communication, updates, and messaging 🧑 Please let Dom know if you have any questions!

We’re excited to officially share that the Piglets Classroom is now fully licensed to accommodate children ages 1–2 years old! πŸ₯³

Beginning the Second week of February, our revamped toddler curriculum will be in place, thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of this age group. The classroom is now equipped to follow a more intentional toddler schedule, including age-appropriate learning experiences, movement opportunities, and routines that encourage independence, exploration, and social growth.

We are officially in the inspection phase at the new location! We passed our Health Inspection earlier this week and have Licensing and Fire Inspections scheduled for next week! Things are moving fast are we are looking good to open in March. Opening day is still dependent on when the state give us the final ok, but we are looking at opening on either Monday March 2nd or Monday the 16th! With everything moving so fast we are also ready to show all our interested families the new space! If you are interested in transferring to The Christian Academy, we would love for you to join us for an open house next Thursday the 12th from 4-7 pm! Please RSVP if you plan on stopping by here.

Our mission is to spread God’s love to your kiddos and to help them build a foundation of love, grace, and prayer. Your students will explore different bible stories in chronological order by having interactive and messy activities to learn from. At the barn, learning about Jesus is created to be fun, messy, and will ALWAYS result back to learning about God’s character. No matter the story or lesson, your students will focus their attention on which characteristic that God is displaying or teaching us about and how we can implement that characteristic in our own hearts. Focusing on God’s character will help us disciple children to become kind, graceful, and loving humans who aim to be more like Jesus. We want to bring God’s love and grace into every interaction we have with your students and your family.

With the help of Conscious Discipline and our strong focus on social emotional development of our students, we will help guide your students to build confidence in confiding in God through prayer no matter the situation. Not only will we begin our day with prayer, inviting God into our day-to-day experiences, but we will also help students build an understanding of how we can speak to God using interactive, visual β€˜prayer helper books’. This will allow students to build confidence and teach them how to be transparent and honest with God while helping them start their prayer journeys. If behaviors occur between peers, we will also give prayer as an option for students to use as a problem solving technique to start allowing prayer to be the thing that brings them together. Prayer and God’s character will be at the heart of everything that we do!

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season! I’m so excited to see what this next year has to offer✨

>> πŸ“ Classroom Expectations: Just a friendly reminder about The Barn Difference – even as a nursery, we still want to make sure that Frog street is a priority. Please utilize the chart I made for you to keep track of daily activities and curriculum!

  • πŸ“±Brightwheel Photos and Captions: Aim for 2-3 photos per child daily! One of these pictures needs to be curriculum! Add a short learning caption (doesn’t need to be long, just meaningful!)

Our Christmas Party was a wonderful reminder of how special our Barn family truly is! 🫢🏼

I am so incredibly thankful for each and every one of you! You all truly made the holiday season one that I will remember for a long time❀️ The Little Red Barn Christmas was so much fun!

Snow could start any day now! ❄️ Just a reminder that during the snowy months, staff need to park in the spots along Alameda in order for the plows to keep the parking lot clear for parents!

With the New Year comes lots of new and exciting changes! The Barn is making some changes not only to our administrative roles, communication platforms, and classrooms, but to large scale size as well!

  • Revamping Piglets! We took some time over the break to begin our Piglet revamp. We have found over the last few months that there have been a few missing pieces to the flow of our facilities since we broke off into 2. That being said we are going to relicense our Piglet Classroom to be a 1-2 year old classroom! This will better help support our kiddos through transitions and gives us more wiggle room to make sure we are properly transitioning our kids to The Big Red Barn.
    • What is to come?
      • We have added new toys and a more extensive dramatic play area and are working on revamped curriculum to better support this new age group. The new curriculum will be implemented starting in February!
  • Expanding The Big Red Barn! We were very busy over the break and closed on a new facility not far from The Big Red Barn. We are branching out and creating a sister school that will be focused more on our passion for spreading God’s love. The Big Red Barn Christian Academy will hopefully be opening in March or April of 2026! Ms. Alicia will be partnering with Ashley on this adventure as she takes on her dream of creating a Faith Based Bible Curriculum for Early Childhood settings! We will be on the hunt for a new director to replace Alicia at The Big Red Barn over the next few months, but if you see her make sure to give her some love and a big congratulations as she takes this next step into her career.
  • New Parent Communication Portal! Now that we will be a 3 site operation we will be switching from Brightwheel to an app called Playground. Playground has all the same basic functions as Brightwheel, but has a lot more to offer when it comes to operating multiple sites. Be on the lookout for next steps in this transition as we will hopefully be switching over by 2/15/26.
  • New Administrative Role! We are so excited to officially announce that Ms. Maisey will be coming back onboard as our Conscious Discipline Coordinator and Floating Trainer. She has been working hard on becoming an expert on all things Conscious Discipline and will help us through our implementation stages. She will be working with all teachers in all three locations. Over the next 2 weeks she will be subbing in infant classrooms to get a better idea of the infant world. Please help her feel at home and give her all the knowledge of your classrooms so she can work to support you in the best possible way! To learn more about her role, please click here.

Helloooo November πŸ‚πŸ§‘

A month to give thanks to our LRB Family!

Needing some prayers? We got you! If you would like The Big Red Barn Prayer Team to pray for something specific, you can submit prayer request here! Remember no prayer is too big for our God and with community in prayer, anything is possible ❀️

It’s November! πŸ‚ Welcome to month five of LRB being open and thriving!✨

There’s so much to be grateful for this holiday season. The Barn is beyond blessed to have the incredible team of women that we do – I truly wouldn’t have it any other way.❀️ This year has brought a lot of change – good days and hard days alike – but through it all, each of you continues to handle every challenge with grace. Thank you!

>> ⏰ Quick Reminder: We’ve noticed that staff have been returning from lunch breaks late. Please be mindful about staying as close to your scheduled time as possible. If you anticipate being late, just send a quick message in the admin group chat to keep things running smoothly. Thanks

>> Please make sure we are keeping up with daily and weekly cleaning checklist – Making sure that diapers are stocked, soap dispensers, disinfectant, soapy water are filled.

>> Handwashing Policy 🀚🏼🧼: As we head into flu season, please be extra mindful of handwashing routines with the babies- and yourselves! Make sure hands are washed:

  • At drop-off
  • Before and after meals
  • After outside play
  • After wiping noses
  • Before and after diaper changes
  • After sensory play

>> Parents MUST wash their infants hands at morning drop-off!!

>> Weather Guidelines for Outdoor Play πŸ‚ : Fresh air is great for the babies, but comfort and safety come first! Please consider these guidelines when planning outdoor play for the infants:

  • If the temperature is between 40s and 50s, please consult admin before going outside!
  • 50s and above, you can take your kiddos outside! (During the snowy months, this may vary)
  • Please make sure infants are dressed appropriately! (long sleeves, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, hats, etc.)

>> Just a few friendly reminders:

  • Please make sure to rinse your dishes before you put them in the dirty dishes bin – makes washing dishes much easier! REMINDER: no food should be discarded in ANY sink. Please discard all food in a trash can prior to rinsing them.
  • Don’t forget to use the soapy water bucket at the end of the day!
  • Please sweep and mop behind trashcans, diaper genies, and step stools!

>> πŸ””BUDDY SYSTEM: Now that it is dark outside when we close, no one is allowed to go to the trash cans or leave at the end of the night without a buddy! This is mandatory! NO EXCEPTIONS πŸ””

>> Monthly Conscious Discipline Implementation: As a continuation our 4 year implementation plan we ask that you all send photos of your families and friends in Group Me with a brief description. This will not only help us get to know each other better, but we will also be printing these photos to make our work space feel more like home! At the end of the day we love our jobs, but we work for ourselves and others, this will be a daily reminder of who we do this life forπŸ’•

Our very first Halloween Sensory Night was an incredible success thanks to all of you! It was so rewarding to see the babies having a blast with the bubble foam and the spaghetti noodles πŸ˜‚ Events like this remind us how special LRB truly is and it adds another layer of community, which is what The Big Red Barn Difference is all about! ✨ I couldn’t have done it without you 🧑

>> 🧼 Cold and Flu Season Reminder: Handwashing is KeyπŸ’§- As we head into the snowy months, we’re taking extra precautions to keep our classrooms clean and our itty bitties healthy! One of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs is through frequent handwashing. With that being said, we kindly ask that parents help by washing their kiddos hands at morning drop-off to create a healthy classroom routine! Teachers will continue to implement handwashing throughout the day as well!

πŸ–πŸΌ Rule of thumb for Handwashing:

  • For babies who can’t hold their heads up: Please use the soapy water spray bottle to gently clean their hands and dry with paper towel.
